Hello! I am Jaquilyn Shumate. I am a photographer and collage artist based in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in editorial and portrait photography with a focus on light, reflection and texture.
Originally from Southern California, I am inspired by the intersection of nature, space and human relationships. My creative focus includes converting moments, events and nostalgia into treasured artwork. I love working with small business owners and creatives to help tell their stories.
I love working with light and texture to create photographs and collage art that you will treasure for the rest of your life. I thrive on creativity and its invigorating rush.
That’s a little bit about who I am! Now it’s my turn to hear about you. Drop me a line, and let’s get to know each other!

How long does it take to receive our images?
It usually takes between six and ten weeks to process and deliver images. Images are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and I will do my best to have your images available in a timely manner.
Do we receive digital images?
You bet! All packages include high-resolution images so you can post them online or have them printed at your convenience.
Do you print photographs?
I print through a very reputable lab that produces prints and canvases that are consistently high in quality.
How do you pronounce Shumate?
The simplest way possible — shoe mate.
Do you offer albums?
Yes! Our albums are custom designed and are of the highest quality. I will work with you to ensure that the album contains the photographs and look that you love! Check out some of the most recent albums we’ve designed.
How long do portrait and engagement sessions take?
The sessions can take anywhere between one and three hours depending on the locations and travel time.
What should we wear to an engagement session?
Classic looks are always the best! Avoid wearing the same color as each other and avoid colors that blend with your skin tone. Screen-printed designs and other graphic patterns can create an unwanted distraction.
What gear do you use?
I shoot with Canon cameras and lenses, and I always have backup gear on hand!
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes! I love to travel and always look forward to the opportunity to photograph in different locations. Contact me for more information on travel rates or any other questions you have.
I’m not photogenic. What should I do?
Don’t worry! Some of my favorite shoots have been with clients that have said the same thing. Just be natural and share a moment with your love. I’ll do the rest.
