Isn’t this family so sweet!? It may have been a little wet and a little chilly, but this family portrait session was so cozy and fun! What a good looking crew!

The Dodge Family : Tacoma Newborn Session
We love the Dodge family and their sweet twins. It was a true pleasure to document this new family in their beautiful home. In-home portrait sessions are a perfect way of capturing and documenting a moment in time, especially with newborns and children.

Monroe’s Birth Story
We have known Jeff and Alise for a few years now, and they have become some of our dearest friends. Jeff is a photographer, and so it only seemed natural that they would want the birth of their first child documented. The great thing about having someone else take the photos, is the partner can be completely present and provide support to the mother without fiddling nervously with the camera, trying to do a thousand things at once. I was honored when Alise asked me to be apart of one of the most special days of this sweet family’s life. A day I knew I would never forget.
I got the call late on Saturday night, the eve of Mother’s Day. Which happened to land on mine and Travis’ 6th wedding anniversary! Jeff told me that Alise was progressing and that baby Marsh was set on being born on our anniversary. How special! I arrived just after 4am, and sat with Alise as Jeff checked them in. She was just glowing. I kept pinching myself. I couldn’t believe they were including me in this wonderful miracle that was about to happen.
Time moved so quickly, looking back. There were moments when the room was quiet and still, then a contraction would come on and everyone would move into position, supporting Alise. There were moments where there just weren’t enough hands, and I was able to put my camera down and help support Alise as she quietly worked through each contraction.
Alise was determined to deliver with no epidural. She never once asked for anything to relieve the pain she was enduring. And right as she was losing steam, feeling like she didn’t have it in her, she gathered the last bit of her strength and courage she could find in her, and out came that sweet baby girl. It was truly one of the most incredible, spiritual and beautiful events I have ever witnessed, and I will never forget it. The room was immediately filled with so much love and jubilance, you could almost touch it. I gasped and immediately started crying tears of joy as I clicked away with my camera.
I have the most wonderful job in the whole world. Truly. Thank you, Alise and Jeff, for having me. I have so much love and respect for the two of you. Sweet Monroe is so blessed to have parents like you, and we are lucky to call you our friends.
Monroe Anderson Marsh. Born: May 12th, 2013. Absolutely perfect.

The Brauns : Tacoma Family Portraits
Our friends and fellow photographers, The Brauns, were recently in town from Ohio and wanted to take advantage of their time in the PNW for some family portraits. We hopped on a ferry and took a walk in the woods, quintessential PNW activities. One of our favorite things when photographing families is to be observers, allowing the family to enjoy their time together, allowing us to capture those real moments.

Jimmy and Madeline Maternity: Tacoma
Our friends, Jimmy & Madi are expecting a baby boy very soon! We are so thrilled for them. Especially because that means our Lucia will have another pal! Madi is one of the most beautiful pregnant women I have ever encountered. You know, the one with absolutely no swelling, all baby, and from behind she looks like a little hottie that is definitely not pregnant! Every girls dream. We love these two and are so excited for this amazing journey of parenthood they are about to embark on. Hearts exploding with love and joy. Parenthood is the greatest.

The MacDonald Family : Tacoma
We love our friends, the MacDonalds. Evan and Travis have known each other for more than 20 years, and have remained very close throughout all that time. Evan and Lindsay are both very talented individuals. In fact, Evan created our branding and designed our website. It is wonderful to see Evan and Lindsay’s family grow, and see the growth of the cute personalities of their little girls, Nina and Elena.

The Hanks Family : Bellevue
We were so excited when Ken and Brianna contacted us for a portrait session. We photographed their wedding nearly two years ago, and now they have a handsome little boy! It’s such a joy to be in this business and watch families grow. The Baptism gown baby X is wearing came over from Ireland over one hundred years ago, and every male on Ken’s side of the family has worn it. Amazing! I love traditions like that.
The Knowles Family : Tacoma, WA
We photographed Jeff and Vanessa’s wedding last year, so when they asked us to photograph their family, it was like a family reunion. We love them and their sweet daughters. Watching them interact with their girls was a treat, especially as we prepare to have a little girl of our own!
